When light reflects off a shiny surface it disperses in many directions which often creates glare. This visual noise, can reduce visibility and be uncomfortable or even dangerous in some situations. Polarization can sometimes be more comfortable because it reduces this glare by blocking scattering light. Many people find over the counter polarization sufficient. Those who suffer photophobia, migraine or other light sensitivity issues may not experience enough relief.
There are a few other problems with the polarized lens, which is why we do not offer it on our website. The polarized is much darker than our regular lens, but because it is so dark it cannot absorb as much of our tint as the outdoor lens. It also can't be used indoors or with electronics, as polarization distorts computer screens. Polarization can make some people sick.
Another problem with polarization is the price point. It costs an additional $150. If you do want polarization please email firstname.lastname@example.org for instructions.
